I have a master craftsman diploma in dressmaking & a BA Hons in costume making. I worked for over ten years in the West End, the National Theatre, the Royal Opera House & with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
I also used to be the Head of Wardrobe at the Mercury Theatre here in Colchester.
Based at 8 Trafalgar Road, Colchester, CO3 9AS Essex I work as a tailor & dress-maker, working on alterations, wedding dresses & costumes.

I alter, resize or re-design wedding, prom and evening dresses.
Prices for bridal gown alterations vary from dress to dress and the type of fabrics used.
If you would like a rough quote please send me some photos of your dress and a description of what works needs doing (exact cost will be determined at your first fitting). Generally it is best to budget around the £300.00 price mark.
If your dress has lacework or bead-work that needs to be removed prior to alterations this is where the price increases.

Lace hem alteration from £250.00
Strap alteration from £50.00
Bodice alteration from £100.00
Changing zip to corset back - £200.00

Dressmaking can involve a significant amount of work, and may therefore cost the same, or even more than high street store garment. We are based in the UK and our prices reflect both the skills we have and the cost of living here in the UK - we therefore charge accordingly.
